Lyford Cay
in Nassau
Portrait
The cay carries the name of William Lyford Jr., a Loyalist captain granted four hundred and forty-eight acres for service in the American Revolutionary War. The Canadian businessman E.P. Taylor bought the land from Sir Harold Christie in 1954 and made the club and the enclave through the later fifties; it holds some four hundred and fifty houses behind one gate.
This is an estate, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
