Nanjing Road West
in Shanghai
Portrait
It was Bubbling Well Road, named for a spring in the middle of it that was paved over in 1860 and is now a traffic island nobody looks at. The road was the main axis of the International Settlement and is now the axis of the retail that replaced it.
This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
