Bosnia
Bosnia's two entries carry the same century from its two ends. Sarajevo held the assassination that began the First World War and, within one lifetime, the longest siege of a capital in modern warfare — 1,425 days; Mostar's bridge stood for four hundred and twenty-seven years, was destroyed in 1993, and was rebuilt from the river stones in 2004. The country contributes the twentieth century as architecture.
