Cyprus
Cyprus supplies the atlas with the last divided capital in Europe, and the division is the entry rather than a complication of it. Nicosia has been partitioned since 1974 and the buffer zone runs through the old city. Paphos carries the Roman mosaics and the myth of Aphrodite's landing; Limassol runs the island's main port and one of Europe's larger ship-management clusters. The three make a country that is Greek, Turkish and offshore-financial at once.
