Nigeria

Nigeria's pair is the largest city in Africa and the capital built to replace it. Lagos passes twenty million by most estimates and exports its music and film industries at a volume no other African city approaches; Abuja was planned from 1976 in the geographic centre of the country expressly to be neutral between north and south, and became the capital in 1991. The country contributes scale and the deliberate attempt to escape it.
