Turkey
Turkey's entries sit on junctions. Istanbul is the only city in the atlas on two continents and served as capital to three empires; Antakya, Kayseri and the Cappadocian towns are what remains where Roman, Byzantine, Armenian, Seljuk and Ottoman layers meet. The coastal entries are a separate matter — anchorages protected by law rather than by remoteness, with a fleet based where the airport happens to be.
