Quarter · Denmark
Frederiksstaden
in Copenhagen
Portrait
Four identical palaces around an octagonal square, built in the 1750s by nobles who were given the land on condition they built to one facade design. The royal family moved in after the Christiansborg fire of 1794 and has not moved out, so the quarter has been the palace for longer than it was not.
This is a quarter, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
