Copenhagen closed it to cars in November 1962 against loud predictions that a Nordic city would never use a pedestrian street in winter, and Jan Gehl spent the following years counting who did. The counting became a method, and cities from Melbourne to New York have since been rebuilt on what this street proved.

This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
