Grenen is a sand spit where the Skagerrak and the Kattegat meet head on and the collision is visible from the beach as a line of broken water running out to sea. Painters came for the light in the 1870s and stayed for thirty years, and the town keeps their houses, their hotel and a museum of what they made of a fishing village.
