Street · Italy
Via Montenapoleone
in Milan
Portrait
The street follows the line of a Roman wall and took its name from a Napoleonic bank that failed; it was ordinary until the 1950s, when the fashion houses assembled the Quadrilatero around it themselves rather than by any plan. It took first place in the world by retail rent in 2024, displacing Fifth Avenue.
This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
