Cape Town
Table Mountain
Portrait
Table Mountain rises twelve hundred metres directly behind the centre, and the city is squeezed onto the strip between its buttresses and the Atlantic, which is why Cape Town has no grid and every road bends around rock. The cable car is best early, before the cloud they call the tablecloth settles, then drive the Chapman's Peak road south to where two currents meet.
