Passeig de Gràcia
in Barcelona
Portrait
The avenue was a country road to the village of Gràcia until the Eixample swallowed it, and the block between Consell de Cent and Aragó carries houses by Gaudí, Puig i Cadafalch and Domènech i Montaner side by side — locally the block of discord, for the argument between them. The paving underfoot is Gaudí's too, hexagonal tiles designed for a house and used for the street.
This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
