On 29 June the town climbs to the Bilibio cliffs in white shirts and throws several thousand litres of red wine over each other in the Batalla del Vino, a ritual said to descend from a boundary dispute with a neighbouring village. The rest of the year Haro's station district holds the highest concentration of century-old bodegas in Spain.
