José Banús opened this marina in 1970 with an Andalusian white village built around it, and the launch party brought Grace Kelly, Aga Khan and Julio Iglesias — the model of berths plus boutiques plus spectacle has been copied along every coast since. Marbella's genuine sixteenth-century old town is eight kilometres east, and the distance between them is the point.
