Street · Switzerland
Bahnhofstrasse
in Zurich
Portrait
The street runs the line of the city moat, filled in during the 1860s, from the main station to the lake, which is why it is straight in a city that is not. The banks sit at the lake end and the shops at the station end, and the gold in the vaults beneath it is the part of the address nobody advertises.
This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
