Brook Street

in London
Portrait

Handel lived at number 25 for thirty-six years and wrote Messiah there; Jimi Hendrix lived at number 23 in 1968 and 1969, one wall away and two centuries apart, and the two houses are now a single museum. Claridge's stands at the western end and is the clearest case in London of a house whose name does not travel: there is no second Claridge's, and the address is the authorship.

This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
