Named for Hans Sloane, whose collection of seventy-one thousand objects was left to the nation in 1753 and became the British Museum, and whose recipe for drinking chocolate was sold as medicine. The street runs the mile between Knightsbridge and Sloane Square with almost nothing on it but shops and embassies.
