Wentworth Estate
Portrait
W.G. Tarrant took development rights to this sandy heath in the early 1920s and had Harry Colt lay a course around the house of a Carlist general who had bought it in exile in 1850. On the fourth and fifth of June 1926 the estate staged the Great Britain against United States match that was the direct forerunner of the Ryder Cup, won by Britain thirteen and a half to one and a half.
This is an estate, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
