Billionaires' Row
Portrait
Six towers on and around West 57th Street were built on air rights bought from their low neighbours, which is how buildings of ninety storeys appeared on a street zoned for far less. Their shadows fall across Central Park for a measured distance in winter, and the city commissioned a study of it after the fact rather than before.
This is a street, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
