Deer Valley

in Park City
Portrait

Edgar Stern opened Deer Valley in 1981 on the ground of the Snow Park ski area that had run from 1946 to 1969, and it has barred snowboards from the first day to this one. It is one of three ski areas left in the United States to do so, with Alta and Mad River Glen; a five-thousand-dollar bounty offered in 2007 for footage of riders at the three changed nothing.

This is an estate, not an entry in the atlas. It resolves upward to the city that holds it.
