Foz do Iguaçu

The Devil's Throat
Nature Gateways
Portrait

The Iguaçu falls spread 2.7 kilometres across the Brazil–Argentina border in 275 separate cataracts, and the Devil's Throat alone takes half the river over a fourteen-storey drop. Eleanor Roosevelt is said to have seen them and murmured poor Niagara; the Brazilian side gives the panorama and the Argentine side the walkways, so both are worth a day.
