Moganshan

Missionaries and Shanghai businessmen built two hundred stone villas on this bamboo-covered mountain from the 1890s to escape the summer heat, and Chiang Kai-shek honeymooned here; the villas were abandoned after 1949 and reopened from the 2000s as small hotels. Shanghai is three hours away, which is the same reason it worked then and works now.
