Genting Highlands

Lim Goh Tong began building here in 1965 on a peak at 1,800 metres, cutting a road up himself, and secured Malaysia's only casino licence — legal because non-Muslims may gamble and the site is remote. The cable car climbs 3.4 kilometres through rainforest, and the temperature at the top is fifteen degrees cooler than Kuala Lumpur an hour below.
