Nevada cut its residency requirement for divorce to six weeks in 1931, and Reno filled with people waiting out the clock in dude ranches — the same year the state legalised gambling, which gave them something to do. The arch over Virginia Street calling it the biggest little city in the world went up in 1929 and is still there.
