John Huston filmed The Night of the Iguana here in 1963, and the press that followed Burton and Taylor's affair put an unknown Mexican fishing village on the world's front pages — the town has grown from two thousand people to a quarter of a million since. Banderas Bay is one of the largest bays in the Americas, and humpbacks calve in it from December to March.
