Sveti Stefan
The Island Hotel
private
Portrait
Sveti Stefan was a fortified village of stone houses on an islet joined by a causeway, and in 1960 Yugoslavia moved the remaining families out and converted the whole island into one hotel — the exteriors were kept exactly, so it still looks like a village. It has been closed and reopened repeatedly since, and can usually only be seen from the shore.
Private The island is a single hotel and is usually visible only from the shore.
