Cap Ferrat's villas stand behind hedges and gates with no visibility from the road, and the only way to see the peninsula is the sentier du littoral that runs round its edge — a public path the properties cannot close. The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild of 1912, pink and open to visitors, has nine gardens and is the exception.
