Asilah

Portugal fortified Asilah in 1471 and the ramparts still hold the medina, whose walls have been given over each August since 1978 to muralists who paint them and let the weather take the work. Sunset belongs to the ramparts; stay in a whitewashed riad, and use the town as the quiet alternative to Tangier, forty minutes north.
