Almost nothing survived the war of 1950–53, and what stands now was built by a country that went from among the poorest in the world to among the richest in forty years. See both halves: a Joseon palace with its changing of the guard in the morning, and in the evening the cafés, screens and street food of Hongdae, where the export culture the world consumes is actually made.
