Thailand's first national park was declared on the plateau above the town in 1962, and the road south of Pak Chong now carries more resorts than farms. The vineyards came after: these hills sit at about fourteen degrees north, far outside the belt where wine is supposed to grow, and the growers rest the vines through the monsoon instead of through a winter they do not have.
