Bar Harbor

Acadia was assembled from land donated by the wealthy families who summered here — Rockefeller alone paid for and designed fifty-seven kilometres of carriage roads with stone bridges, kept free of cars to this day. Cadillac Mountain is the first place in the United States to see the sunrise for part of the year, and the 1947 fire that burned much of the island was fought by naval crews.
