Marfa
Minimalism in the Desert
Portrait
Donald Judd left New York in the 1970s for west Texas, bought a decommissioned army fort and installed a hundred milled aluminium boxes in two artillery sheds, arranged so the light changes them through the day — permanent installation was his answer to museums rearranging work. Marfa has under two thousand people and the nearest airport is three hours away.
