São Paulo grew on coffee money and then industry into the largest city in the southern hemisphere, and its traffic produced the world's largest civilian helicopter fleet — around four hundred flights a day between rooftops. In 2007 the city banned outdoor advertising entirely under the Clean City Law, removing fifteen thousand billboards and revealing the architecture underneath.
