Kutná Hora's silver produced the Prague groschen and made the Bohemian kings among Europe's wealthiest — at its peak the town rivalled Prague. The Sedlec ossuary was arranged in 1870 by a woodcarver employed to do something with the bones of around forty thousand people stacked in the crypt; he made a chandelier using every bone in the human body.
