Beppu

Beppu discharges more geothermal water than any site on earth except Yellowstone, from around 2,200 vents, and steam rises from drains and rooftops across the town. Eight of the springs are too hot to bathe in and are shown as the hells — one blood-red with iron, one a cobalt blue — while the rest supply hundreds of baths, including sand baths where you are buried on the beach.
