Belokurikha
The Siberian Spa
Portrait
Belokurikha's radon-nitrogen springs were being used by settlers by the 1860s and became a Soviet sanatorium centre from the 1920s — the town exists almost entirely for treatment, with hotels prescribing courses rather than nights. The Altai mountains begin immediately behind it, and the cable car climbs Tserkovka for the view over the steppe.
