Baa Atoll

UNESCO declared the atoll a Biosphere Reserve in 2011, and Hanifaru Bay inside it gathers manta rays in numbers counted in the hundreds through the southwest monsoon. Diving in the bay is forbidden and snorkelling is rationed by ranger permit, so the designation works as a rule enforced on the water rather than a label printed on a map.
