Sochi

Sochi runs a hundred and forty kilometres along the coast with the Caucasus rising straight behind it, which gives Russia its only humid subtropics and a ski resort forty minutes from a beach. The 2014 Games rebuilt the transport, the mountain cluster and the seafront; no other Russian city offers this combination — sea in the morning, Krasnaya Polyana by lunch.
