Ronda

Bridge over the Gorge

Portrait

The Tajo gorge cuts Ronda in two, and the Puente Nuevo that spans it took forty-two years to build and killed its architect, who fell while inspecting it in 1793. The bullring of 1785 is one of the oldest in Spain and the place where the modern rules of the fight on foot were codified, which Hemingway and Orson Welles both came for.
