Montevideo

Montevideo faces the Río de la Plata with a rambla running eighteen kilometres along the water, used by the whole city at six in the evening for walking, running and passing the mate gourd. The Mercado del Puerto holds the parrilla grills, the Ciudad Vieja for the art deco, and take the ferry across to Buenos Aires for the contrast in temperament.
