Xitang's distinguishing feature is the langpeng — over a kilometre of roofed walkway along the canals, built so that traders and customers could do business in rain, and unusual even among the water towns. Nine rivers divide the old town into eight sections joined by 104 stone bridges, and part of Mission: Impossible III was filmed here.
