Paphos

The Houses of Dionysos and Theseus preserve floors laid between the second and fourth centuries, and they survived because the city was buried by earthquake and forgotten until 1962. The archaeological park works best in early morning while the mosaics are still shaded, then drive up to the Troodos villages, where Cyprus keeps its wine and its painted churches.
