Český Krumlov
River Bend & Castle
Portrait
The Vltava wraps almost entirely around the old town, which is why the plan has barely changed since the fourteenth century, and the castle above it holds a baroque theatre of 1766 with its original stage machinery, scenery and props — so complete and so fragile that it is performed in only a few times a year, by candlelight. The castle also keeps bears in the moat, a tradition from the sixteenth century.
