The Loire Valley / Chambord

UNESCO inscribed the two hundred and eighty kilometres between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes in 2000, and inscribed them as a cultural landscape rather than as a collection of monuments, which is the correct reading of the place. More than three hundred châteaux stand along the river because the court moved here in the fifteenth century and stayed a hundred and fifty years.
