Vicenza

Palladio built twenty-three buildings in Vicenza and its villas nearby, and his Four Books of Architecture carried the style to England, Russia and Jefferson's Virginia — no architect has been more widely copied. The city also processes a large share of the world's gold jewellery, a trade going back to the thirteenth century and centred on the Vicenzaoro fair.
