The Austro-Hungarian and then Yugoslav navy used Tivat's arsenal until 2006, and a Canadian investor bought the site and turned it into a marina for yachts up to 250 metres — two decommissioned submarines are displayed where they were once serviced. The Bay of Kotor around it is a drowned river canyon with Venetian towns on both shores.
