The Wharf Cellars

Utrecht's canals run at a lower level than the streets, with medieval wharf cellars opening directly onto the water — merchants unloaded boats into their own basements, and the arrangement exists nowhere else. The Dom tower is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and stands separate from its nave, which collapsed in a storm in 1674 and was never rebuilt.
