The Huguenot Valley
Portrait
French Protestants fleeing the revocation of the Edict of Nantes were granted land here in 1688 and named their farms after the places they had left — La Motte, Cabrière, Dieu Donné — and the valley kept the names, the vines and, for a couple of generations, the language. A tram runs between the estates now, which is the sensible way to taste.
