Healdsburg sits where the Russian River, Dry Creek and Alexander valleys meet, which gives one small town access to three distinct climates and everything from zinfandel to cool-climate pinot. The plaza is the centre of it, and Sonoma's manner — barns rather than châteaux, tasting rooms that expect conversation — is the deliberate opposite of Napa an hour east.
