St. Helena is a single main street of stone buildings in the middle of Napa, with Charles Krug — founded 1861, the valley's first commercial winery — at one end and the Culinary Institute in an 1889 stone cellar at the other. It is where the valley shops and eats, and the least resort-like place in it.
